Hawa, a character from the hit Liberian movie Imported Bride. Fiction is becoming reality for many Diaspora Liberians.The movie, “Imported Bride”, is a fictional story of a Liberian man named Momo who, while living in the US, sent for his bride Fatu from Liberia. Fatu met an old boyfriend and left Momo. The story depicts what many Liberians in America have experienced.  Below are real and true stories. The names have been changed to protect the privacy.

Graham who is visiting Liberia for the first time is set to work along with Cori in raising the needed funds that will promote arts and culture in Liberia.Monrovia - Playwright Cori Thomas, a New York-based writer and winner of the American Theatre Critics Association’s M. Elizabeth Osborn Award for her play When January Feels Like Summer, a dark comedy about a multicultural neighborhood and its residents’ search for assimilation and identity is currently on an assessment tour in Liberia.

Liberian costumes on displayed at the festival in Doha.Doha, Qatar- - The Embassy of Liberia in Doha, Qatar has participated in the African Arts Festival which took place in Katara with the Liberian showcasing Liberian rich cultural heritage, through costumes, fabric and brochures highlighting possible investment opportunities in Liberia.

The African Festival which took place for the first time in Doha, State of Qatar from April 7-13, 2013 which was an exceptional vintage and remembered by the public and the city of Doha. The public was allowed to live their passion by participating in all sorts of activities related African music and arts, in a space created especially for the occasion.

 

The African Festival program included; African Art Fair, African Art workshops. African Artist exhibitions, music and instrument workshop, African Gastronomy, African embassies Art Expression, African parade, African music African animals discovery and many other African exhibitions.

The Doha Africa festival featured renowned African musicians: Johnny clegg, South Africa, Manu Dibango as well as other top Cameroonian and Malian-Senegalese artists who thrilled their audience and kept them spellbound during their splendid performances and created more desire and appreciation for African music.

Liberian costumes on displayed at the festival in DohaThe Liberian booth became a lecture hall for the many Qataris, Arabs, Asians, Europeans, Americans and Africans who took special interest in the national flag of Liberia and the history surrounding it.

The lecture forum was conducted by Mr. Alieu Massaquoi, First Secretary and Charge d’Affaires, a.i. and Mr. Emmanuel Larmeh, Second Secretary during the entire period of the festival.

The festival was also a moment to talk about the success story of a post conflict country and the enormous progress being made at home with the assistance of  international partners and friendly countries including the State of Qatar. The Embassy distributed information on investment opportunities and possible places in Liberia for tourism.
