“As for Wologisi, I think it remains one of China’s interests but this is not something that the Chinese side can decide by itself. It has to be negotiated. There hasn’t been any formal negotiations yet  although we have expressed our interests. I heard that there are many other companies who have expressed their interests. We are waiting to see whether it can proceed with formal negotiations or a formal bidding process.” - Zhao Jianhua, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, in a tete-a-tete with media executives at the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia, Thursday.Monrovia - In the wake of a reported interest from the Indian steel giant, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), one of India's major steel producers with a significant presence in sectors like Mining, Power Generation and Infrastructure, the Chinese government has for the first time publicly disclosed previously speculated interest in Liberia’s Wologisi mines.
